Men in Red

Christian Standard's managing editor, Jim Nieman (right) spread all 68 color proof pages of the November issue on the counter for the second time in two weeks today. We began our final checks before the issue goes to the printer tomorrow. Mark Haas, Standard's creative director (left), has served as our art director for more than a year, and he's been a huge help in upgrading the look and design of the magazine. He was there with us today, making recommendations for color and suggesting other tweaks to the layout. We realized when we gathered around the counter that we'd all chosen red shirts today, and everyone walking noticed it too!
The November issue is all about missions, and we'll be distributing it on the chairs at the International Conference on Missions in Indianapolis next month. But we won't be wearing red shirts!

It IS About Me!

My friend, Terry Wuske, calls me an "expressive." So I've decided to express myself in this new blog.
This will be my diary, free for all the world to see. Some posts will be silly, some will be significant, some will be spiritual, some will be simple. My goal is to upload a picture and/or comment each day to record something about that day.
I figure it will be good discipline for me to consider and or examine each day. Given to introspection as I am, this may touch the philosophical at times, but don't count on it. I just want to do something I've never successfully accomplished before, that is, keep a journal. This will be more satisfying to me than scribbling in a notebook, and a wonderful way to help me remember what's happened to me as my aging brain slips into atrophy.
So this is unapologetically about me. It will be interesting to me if some others want to follow along, but, really, that's not a requirement. I'm going to be happy just for the chance to express myself.

Tonight's dinner--a yummy salmon dish
cooked up by my sweetie.
